Hello, I’m Simon Theis Jensen a Danish award-winning creative & creative director based in London, United Kingdom. I have over 8 years experience from London’s advertising industry and was at the age of 24 promoted to Head of Art, as one of the youngest in the UK. In recent years I have specialised in creating communications that inspires positive social change to one of the world’s most complex and pressing issues on behalf of the UK Government and European Commission. I have worked with more than 40 Civil Society Organisation across 7 European countries and have directly consulted more than 10 EU Member States on their strategic and creative communication.

My work has been recognised by more than 20 international awards from major creative competitions including D&AD, Cannes Lions, Graphis among many others.

I have had the privilege to be a jury member for international award competitions such as Ad Stars Advertising Festival, appeared as a guest speaker for the Romanian EU Presidency, and occasionally I act as mentor for new creative talent at the School of Communication Arts in London.

In 2016, I founded the communication studio Gravitas︎offering support and consultancy on branding, identity, campaigns and design for clients around the world. My clients includes H.M. UK Government, European Commission, Bedre Nætter and many more.

My experience of having been part of more than 10 agencies and have led as well as build two separate creative departments. I have become a firm believer in that; caring about who you work with and understanding who you communicate to, are two fundamental factors to any creative success.

I believe being better with the people we work with, is the key to doing better work. Building culture, leading by example and empowering an audience minded ethos creates for thriving and unified enviroment, where minds have the freedom to think and ideas are trusted to be shared. I believe this makes the way for a great creative department and successful agency.

Why would anyone care? In the ever-raging battle for attention, audiences no longer care what we’ve got to say. We have to earn audience attention and the right to communicate.

I have defined four simple principles that I believe shape the form of work which earns us the right to connect with audiences and makes for better and more effective communication.

Research Based, Audience Minded, Strategically Driven and Creatively Led.

With these principles I believe in doing whatever is right based on a great understanding of the problem and the audience. It’s just a matter of defining the right form for the right audience. By having a great understanding and believing that communication can manifest in any form. We can create purposeful communication that taps into relevant cultures making people care, engage, react and solve problems. If this a fully integrated campaign, a street installation, a book, a building, a logo, a Facebook ad. We should and must always create communications that is shaped by the problem and formed for the audience.

I helped initiate, build and run The Network Hub as the first ever government funded communication service to provide bespoke communication support to European civil society organisations. The agency was set up with the aim to build EU collaboration and to sustainably create positive social change in local communities across Europe.

On behalf of UK Government I joined the European Strategic Communication Network to lead on creative consultancy to EU Member States. I directly consulted governments and policy makers on how to build communication capacity of civil society organisation as well as inspiring positive social change in vulnerable communities through strategic and creative communications.
